Paper Clamshell Boxes – A Better Choice Than Styrofoam
Switching to compostable clamshell boxes helps busy food businesses move away from expanded polystyrene (Styrofoam) and use plant-based materials instead. These boxes are made from sugarcane bagasse, wheat straw, or clear PLA plastic. They stay strong with both hot and cold food. We use plant waste and natural materials to turn eco-friendly disposables into ready-to-use takeout paper clamshell boxes. You still get good grease protection and easy stacking, so no trade-offs whatsoever.
Materials and Where to Use Them
Sugarcane Bagasse & Wheat Straw. These are thick, fiber-based materials. You can safely heat them in a microwave, and they can handle up to 200°F (93°C). They work best for hot, oily, or heavy meals because they resist grease well.
Clear PLA (Plant-Based Plastic)
Made from corn starch, this is a clear material. It’s only for cold food (under 110°F). It’s a good fit for salads, deli sides, and grab-and-go items where customers want to see the food.
Compostable Materials
All these materials break down in industrial composting sites. These places turn waste into soil. Not every city has these sites, so it’s smart to check what your local area accepts, especially for compostable or Type 7 plastics.

Aqueous Coating
A clear, water-based coating that dries quickly and protects printed surfaces to improve surface appearance.
UV Coating
A liquid coating that is cured instantly with ultraviolet light to create scuff-resistant matte surface.
Spot UV Coating
A UV coating applied only to selected areas (like logos or text). Used for contrast and visual impact.
Soft Touch Coating

Hot Foil Stamping
A printing process where metallic or pigmented foil is transferred onto a surface using heat and pressure to create a shiny, decorative effect.
Cold Foil Printing
Foil is transferred onto a surface without heat using UV-curable adhesives and a printing press. Suitable for high-speed commercial printing and flexible materials.
Blind Embossing
A design is raised on a surface without any foil or color, using a die pressed from the front side of the material. This creates a subtle, tactile effect.
Blind Debossing

Registered Embossing
